Pink Petro is the energy industry’s first social medial channel and learning platform for women and their advocates. The project will launch its beta in November with a select group of invited professionals. The site, backed by Halliburton and other energy companies, is a new approach to bringing learning, development, experts, and specialized content under one roof.
As a part of the Spring 2014 forum, 11 committed leaders came together to tackle education. Our central question was…Why are some parents involved in their kids education while other’s aren’t? Over the course of 30 days, we visited 27 field locations across Pre-K, K, Elementary, Middle and High School in Houston Independent School District to understand more about the topic. Rocko Stedy, Houston’s hip hop sensation and Tim Merlau teamed up to put together this video.

Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy – STEM School
The Houston Independent School District has opened the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy in partnership with the Foundation for the Education of Young Women (FEYW). FEYW has opened five other schools in Texas and it will invest $1 million in the Houston school’s launch. Our school will open with grades 6 and 9, adding grades 7 and 10 in 2012, grades 8 and 11 in 2013, and grade 12 in 2014. The campus will be located at 1906 Cleburne, near the Texas Medical Center, the Museum District, the University of Houston, Texas Southern University, and Rice University. Academic offerings will include a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum and summer camp opportunities such as STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) institutes and leadership-focused activities. FEYW schools are recognized as offering the most distinctive high school leadership programs in the nation. Connect here for more on the school.
