There was a time in my life when I cared way too much about what people thought of me.
I’d make presentations (and was so proud of my slides). I had things to say and people to convince. I had these ideas that were going to change the world (and they did). I remember. I tried so hard to convince people of my worth. I hated to tell people no and I didn’t want to disappoint anyone.
And then one day I realized I didn’t need to make an effort to try so hard.I got to the point where I’d rather be real, me and upopular than to be fake and well liked. I just needed to be me: original and real. I allowed myself to believe that I was worth it.
Something magical happens when you’re real.
People fall in love with you because they magically begin to see what being real does for them: it allows them to see their worth, love themselves and own their own greatness.
As a high energy, high capacity person who deeply cares about relationships, I was taught it’s about how you make people feel more than what you do. What I slowly realized is I didn’t need to be heard. I already had what it took to get the respect of those I wanted to “hear me”.
So, when you deliver consistently, build authenticity in everything you do and every relationship you have… you don’t need to convince anyone.
Just be you in 2017.
PS – For REAL it’s been so long since I’ve written. And it feels great to be back.
