Health, Happiness and the Power of Choice in 2012

Happy 2012.  Each year comes with the opportunity to learn, grow and live life to the fullest.  The years just keep getting better.  A friend of mine, Mary Slater shared this great post with me this morning.  My three takeaways from this Top 10 are:

Act now like you will need your body for a hundred years - I used to think I could consume whatever I wanted and it wouldn't matter.  As I age, I'm learning how cruicial moderation and activity are. After having Ally, I learned in 2011 how my body has done wacko things.  Now I'm keenly aware of how I need to put an ever greater focus on treating my body well.  It's not just eating right, and evercise but also drinking lots of water and keeping a good skin regime.  In 2012, I aim to raise my game in treating my body well.  After all, I deserve it.  A healthy mom and wife, a happy one!

Time is of the essence.  This is so true.  After the late Steve Jobs died, I read his book, and quite frankly couldn't put it down.  Of course I read it on my IPAD :)  Steve had some profound things to say.  The one that I carry with me daily is
Your time is limited so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important have the courage to follow your own heart and intiuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.   So live now.  We are all on a time clock.

Happiness is a choice, not a condition.  Wow, this is the essence of life.    The key word is CHOICE.  Choice is a beautiful gift we give ourselves.  We choose how we feel, how we will treat ourselves (and others) and what to do with our time.

For me, these three sum it up for 2012.  Be good to myself.  Spend time doing meaningful things with the right people and remind myself that I have the power of choice.

To your health and wellness.  May you be everything you wish in 2012...
