Thankful ...

Thanksgiving is that time of year when we all participate in the typical rituals: food, family, and football.  For me,2009 has been a cornucopia of blessings: wedding, new home, promotion...but first and foremost I'm thankful for my health and happiness...It's been four years and I've remained focused on my new life.  I look and feel fabulous and I am inspired every day to learn and grow through new experiences to help enrich my life even more.

Since 2007, I've been running the Turkey Trot 10k on Thanksgiving.  It's a tribute to my ongoing journey and the healthy choices I've made since I decided to get fit.  My runs usually are consumed with music but this morning, my thoughts were elsewhere...

I often find inspiration running when I think of people in my life who have made a difference. Tom L was one of those guys.  I was saddened by his sudden recent death earlier this month.  Tom was the kind of guy who loved life, loved people and was blessed by so much good fortune. He was a giver and at 50, he passed having a full an enriching life that was remarkable in so many ways.  While he didn't live to celebrate Thanksgiving, I know Tom was thankful for all his experiences.  He truly left us a happy soul.  And, it just doesn't get any better than that.

So today on Thanksgiving...I am thankful I'm alive but also equally thankful that I've had a full life -- I was 'dead' in a sense for so many years, woke up and created a new and much better life.  However when death does take me I take extreme comfort I will die a happy, healthy, enriched, and very blessed woman.

Happy Thanksgiving.  Be safe, be well and live strong...every day!

Katie
